Ms. Adita Karkera, Deputy State Chief Data Officer, Database Administration Lead at the Arkansas Department of Information Services
Adita Karkera has worked at the Arkansas Department of Information Services since 2000 in a number of roles. Originally from India, she has been a proud Arkansan for twenty years. Karkera has been a leader and key participant in a number of important projects for the state including chairing the State Data Transparency Panel prior to this year's hiring of a CDO; leading the Arkansas Data Catalog Project; creating the role of Agency Data Officers; overseeing the creation of the Cross-Agency Data Governance Steering Committee; and coordinating the project Restore Hope to reduce recidivism.
She has served as a member of the National State CDO Network representing Arkansas; led the effort to establish the Statewide Longitudinal Data Systems; co-authored the "Gap Analysis of State Data Needs" and "Feasibility and Cost Study on the Development of a Statewide Data Warehouse Program", and was named lead role in the T3 Innovation Network to ensure Arkansas is part of the open technology infrastructure network. She led the Inaugural Arkansas CDO Forum, the Identity Resolution POC with Acxiom, assisted the Office of Medicaid Inspector General to combat Medicaid waste, architected the Statewide Master Data Management solution, and drafted the Public Safety Data Sharing Agreement, and many others.
Karkera serves on the Advisory Board of the Arkansas Public Administration Consortium, volunteers at the Harmony Health Clinic in Pulaski County and with the EAST Initiative. She has also been a Big Sister for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program and held a leadership position “Friends of India” community group.
