AAOC History Project

History Project

The Arkansas Academy of Computing has initiated a History Project to preserve many of the stories and artifacts of the founding of the computing business in Arkansas. Most of the true computing industry pioneers in Arkansas had no idea they would make a career and significant contributions in this new field and their stories are fascinating, informative, and inspirational.

Most of our members knew Cecil McDermott, sadly he passed on May 17, peacefully in his sleep.  Take a moment to experience a moment in his life in his  AAoC video.

Make a Difference

The Arkansas Academy of Computing provides supplemental scholarships to computer science students at these Arkansas universities: Arkansas State, Arkansas Tech, Henderson State, South Arkansas, UA Fayetteville, UA Little Rock, UA Monticello, UA Pine Bluff, and the University of Central Arkansas. This year our goal is to provide $25,000 in scholarships. If you donate at least $500, you may designate which program you are supporting. We need your help in making sure Arkansas has the computer science graduates it needs! If your business or group can provide matching funds, that can make a huge difference.

Help support Computer Science students by donating now.

Three employee groups have set up endowments to sponsor scholarships. It takes approximately $12,500 to endow a $500 scholarship forever. By donating to these endowments, you ensure that AAoC and your place of business will be recognized for a long time. To date, these employee group endowments have supported support a minimum of 5 scholarships, sometimes as many as 8.
