Paula Norwood is retired as Johnson and Johnson’s Vice President of Global Biostatistics and Data Processing. Her expertise is in statistical study design, drug development, and analysis of clinical research data.
She is a member and Fellow of the American Statistical Association, has held offices as Chair and Program Chair of the Biopharmaceutical Section; and is a past member of the Biometric Society, ENAR, Council, International Biometric Society, and the Drug Information Association.
Dr. Norwood established the Statistics Department within Ortho Pharmaceutical Corporation, established the consolidated Statistics and Data Processing Department for a major pharmaceutical research division within Johnson & Johnson and contributed
to the development of more than 20 new pharmaceutical products.
Paula is author of numerous scientific articles including: A statistical methodology for postmarketing surveillance of adverse drug reaction reportsA statistical methodology for postmarketing surveillance of adverse drug reaction reports (computer program for methodology appended).
Dr. Norwood graduated from Clarksville High School in 1964 and received her BS in Mathematics from Hendrix in 1968. Her advisor was Dr. Cecil McDermott, an AAoC member. She was one of the early recipients of UAMS’s biostatistics MS. She has a house in NW Arkansas as well as in Florida.
